As a good Saturday night, it brought discussions and yesterday's discussion was the metal scene vs. the party scene.
Even though we are in 2008, in Malta and in many other parts of the world, the metal scene is the most misjudged. Yet this scene is the safest from all, at least in Malta. By metal I include punk, Goth and other similar genres too, because here they are often mixed even though at the same time they are divided because people reason with the mentality of labels and pretend that their style is the best one.
Here parties get organized, and the majority goes there for xtc. You see people on the ground, senseless and no one gives a fuck, instead everyone walks over them like they are doormats.
During a moshpit, you see people falling on the ground, in Malta and in other countries and people without even knowing them; they help them up, while if they were in a party, they'd get used as doormats.
Yet still the parents prefer to send their children to parties instead of letting them go to a rock concert. Because 'rock is of the devil' they say. At least two deaths have been reported from parties and no deaths from rock concert, yet still parents prefer to send their children to parties. I wouldn't force my children to listen to anything, but if I'll have I'll pray they won't get into the party scene!
Yes because going to parties dress like a slut, get drunk and drugged on the floor, with people walking on you, steal your stuff, beat you and raping you, is something good, yeah that is acceptable because parties have colours, therefore they are normal therefore they are accepted!
But of course there always exceptions, we have the rotten apples too.
The discussion turned up about people not supporting the metal scene. People who are in bands too who pretend that others support their band but they don't supports others or they organize events on the same night on purpose to bring competition. Or when gothic parties get organized, everyone whines because there are no gothic clubs in the country, yet when a gothic party gets organized hardly no one goes.
Here there is really no support. It is all a matter of competition and business, no wonder why I stopped going to gigs!
But the thing that makes me angrier is people who know me, never talk to me unless to offend, then they come to hug me and tell me to go their concert. Hah...! Or not organizing a transport, hey I don't drive I need transport and if they think that I am going to spend 20 euros for a taxi they can forget it! I am not a daddy's girl with a platinum card in her bag, thanks!
Or people saying: 5 euros is too much for going to a gig, then you hear them saying: I spent 60 euros to get drunk!
Wow so 5 euros is a lot but 60 is not!
The metal scene is however increasing, but it's not that good. Only a few are real metal heads.
I like variety and don't care about labels, let alone being a true metal head, but seeing people who call themselves as true metal heads, call others posers, then don't go to a gig with the excuse that 5 euros is expensive and go to a rave party that costs 30 euros...now who is the real poser?
Oh yeah right, because in rave parties it is easier to hook up, because the girls dress like sluts, xtc is found and drunk girls are everywhere too.
I was in the party scene when I was a teen but was never that cheap. Even at 16 I was more mature than my peers.
On the other hand I can’t stand those who start listening to a new genre of metal call themselves true metal heads without listing to other genres. You don’t have to like all but at least gain a little knowledge from all before having a favorite genre and call yourself true metal head otherwise you’re just a poser.
Another one that I have noticed, on Thursday I went to a gig, and only me and a few others head banged, why the hell did the rest go to a concert if they didn't want to participate?
